Rohit at 5.30 AM move from Delhi to Bilaspur, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 3.0 at Luhnu Cricket Stadium, Bilaspur, on Tuesday. Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid graced the event as chief guests.

After attending the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, Rohit Sharma arrived in Bilaspur via helicopter to inaugurate the Khel Mahakumbh event.

The Luhnu Ground in Bilaspur sparkled with dazzling fireworks during the inauguration. Several notable dignitaries, including BJP district president Swatantra Sankeyan, former MP and senior BJP leader Suresh Chandel, and various MLAs, honored the occasion.

Thakur stated, “After two successful editions, today’s grand inauguration witnessed the presence of cricket legends Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma, among other dignitaries. With the aim to engage 75,000 players this time, I extend my best wishes to all participants.”

The inaugural ceremony was further embellished by performances from Lakhvinder Singh Vadali, Kuldeep Sharma, the “Natti King,” the “Pines of Harmony” Himachal Police Band, and Apaarshakti Khurana.

The Khel Mahakumbh serves as the foundation for Khelo India, focusing on grassroots sports competitions spanning from schools to state levels across various age groups. This Khel Mahakumbh rewards athletes with cash prizes.

Anurag Thakur, disclosed that Rohit left Delhi at 5:30 in the morning to reach the Luhnu Cricket Ground on time.

Thakur said, “Rohit Sharma has come here from Delhi at 5.30 am to inaugurate our Khel Mahakumbh, I thank him wholeheartedly – If Rohit wanted, he could have refused to come here as the 5th Test was from the 7th but he came as he knew that the future of India would be here,” said Thakur at the event.”

In his inauguration speech, Anurag Thakur emphasized the significance of sports, quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Khelega India toh Khilega India.” He highlighted that the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh not only nurtures talent within his parliamentary constituency but also provides a platform for national and international recognition.

Thakur highlighted the event’s growth, aiming to engage 75,000 players this time, compared to 40,000 and 45,000 participants in the previous editions. He extended his best wishes to all participants, showcasing the event’s significance in promoting sports at the grassroots level.

After engaging in a friendly cricket match with Dravid, Rohit and Dravid rejoined the team in Dharamsala for their first practice session ahead of the series finale. With India already leading the series 3-1, Rohit aims for a resounding victory, potentially surpassing last year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy win against Australia.

Ravichandran Ashwin is set to play his 100th Test in Dharamsala, marking a milestone in Indian cricket history. However, the weather forecast suggests interruptions due to rain and low temperatures in Dharamsala.

Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid expressed their delight at attending the grand event organized by Anurag Thakur for the youth, acknowledging its importance.
