Meg Lanning, a two-time winner of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and holder of five ICC Women’s T20 ICC World Cup titles, has retired at the age of 31. She leaves the international stage with an impressive record, having accumulated over 8000 runs across all formats while representing her country.

Lanning’s first ICC title came at the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2012, and in 2013 winning the 50-over World Cup in India.

Under Meg Lanning’s leadership, Australia continued to accumulate more titles, and she played a pivotal role in guiding her team to a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

She is also the captain of the Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League, acquired by the Delhi Capitals in the 2023 Women’s Premier League (WPL) player auction for a sum of ₹1.1 crore. Lanning emerged as the top run-scorer of the tournament, accumulating 345 runs in nine innings, earning her the Orange Cap.

Her 15 centuries is the highest in women’s ODI cricket, with New Zealand veteran Suzie Bates being the closest competitor with 12 centuries.

Meg Lanning concludes her career with a remarkable total of 17 international centuries, with 15 of them achieved in 50-over cricket and two of them from T20 international match. Her career-best score of 152* against Sri Lanka in Bristol in 2017.

Taking over the captaincy from Jodie Fields at the beginning of 2014, Lanning led her country admirably on 182 occasions and steered Australia to five ICC titles during a golden period for Australian cricket.

On 9 November 2023 she announced her retirement from international cricket. She holds the record for the most centuries (15 centuries) in Women’s One Day Internationals and is the first Australian to score 2,000 runs in Twenty20 Internationals. Two T20 centuries in her name.
