Glenn Maxwell celebrates double century

Glenn Maxwell is the contemporary greatest warrior in the history of cricket. He played a pivotal role in turning the game around with a stunning century. Maxwell and Pat Cummins formed the highest partnership for the eighth wicket or above in the history of international ODI cricket. Maxwell’s incredible double century ultimately propelled Australia to a miraculous victory.

Maxwell experienced several cramps but he persevered and delivered one of the greatest innings in the history of ODIs. The right-handed batsman compiled an unbeaten 201 runs from 128 balls, featuring 21 boundaries and 10 sixes. Australia secured a thrilling three-wicket victory and advanced to the semi-finals of the major tournament being held in India. Maxwell mentioned that he managed to maintain a clear mindset after realizing that his movement had become limited due to cramps.

Pat Cummins, who was at the non-striker’s end, revealed that he had signaled to Adam Zampa to be prepared in case Maxwell had to leave the field.

“Yeah, I thought he was going off, so I kind of signaled to (Adam) Zampa to be ready because, yeah, he literally couldn’t move. Jonesy, the physio, was out there, and he convinced Maxi that if he came off, it might worsen the situation. So, he tried to tough it out, staying on his feet,”. Glenn Maxwell hits miraculous double century, Australia won by three wickets, Cummins stated during the post-match press conference.

Australia’s next match is scheduled against Bangladesh on November 11 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune.

Maxwell said during the presentation ceremony

The scorching heat during fielding today took its toll on me. I hadn’t endured much exercise in such hot conditions, and it really affected me. I wanted to stay back and work on my leg movements. When asked about our plans at 92/7, it was simple – stick to our batting plans as much as possible.

For me, it meant staying positive and looking to play my shots. Even the LBW decision, which was just clipping the stumps, motivated me to be more proactive. There was a bit of swing and movement off the surface, typical under the lights, and the Afghan bowlers exploited it beautifully. But the belief within the team always remained, and today’s performance has boosted it even further.

VVS Laxman said this inning was quite incredible. “One of the greatest innings one would ever see. Never Give Up. Take a bow Glenn Maxwell. That was quite incredible.”
