David Warner and Josh Inglis got Australia off to a solid start. Inglis contributed 39 runs before being dismissed by Jason Holder. Warner, on the other hand, played aggressively and showcased an impressive performance. After Inglis’s departure, Mitchell Marsh partnered with Warner, but their collaboration was broken when Alzarri Joseph removed Marsh.

Warner reached his fifty in just 22 balls before falling victim to Joseph. West Indies continued to apply pressure by swiftly taking the wickets of Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell. In the middle order, Tim David and Matthew Wade made crucial contributions. David remained unbeaten on 37 runs off 17 balls, while Wade was dismissed by Russell after scoring 21 runs in the final over. Russell then dismissed Sean Abbott on the consecutive ball.

Warner’s strong finish, coupled with the partnership between David and Wade, bolstered Australia’s total to 213/7. Russell concluded the innings by claiming the last two wickets, finishing with figures of 3/42. Alzarri Joseph took two wickets, while Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder each secured one wicket.

Chasing 214 for victory, the West Indies made an excellent start. Brandon King and Johnson Charles were hitting boundaries all around the ground until Zampa dismissed Charles in the 9th over, ending their 89-run opening partnership.

Although Brandon King reached his fifty, he couldn’t it into a big innings, fall victim to Marcus Stoinis. Despite several middle-order batsmen Rovman Powell, Shai Hope, Andre Russell, Sherfane Rutherford, and Romario Shepherd getting starts, all of them failed to capitalize, ultimately costing the West Indies.

Some hope came as Jason Holder managed to score some quick runs, but in the end, it wasn’t enough for the West. The West Indies put in a commendable effort but fell short by 11 runs. West Indies scored a total of 202/8.

Adam Zampa’s wonderful innings took three wickets. Marcus Stoinis claimed two wickets while Jason Behrendorff, Glenn Maxwell, and Sean Abbott each secured one wicket.
