“Yes, I can verify that there have been discussions about Hardik’s potential move to MI. There is a chance he might switch teams, but at present, no further details can be confirmed as the deal has not been finalized,” said an IPL source to the PTI news agency.
Pandya led Gujarat Titans to consecutive IPL finals, securing the trophy in their debut season in 2022, and became runners-up in 2023 after losing the match with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
After the last auction, MI had only Rs. 0.05 crore remaining in their purse. To receive an additional Rs 5 crore for the upcoming auction, Mumbai Indians will have to release some players in order to back Hardik Pandya. Pandya began his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2015, and various media reports indicate a possible comeback to the team in the upcoming IPL season. Mumbai Indians are reportedly willing to invest ₹15 crore to bring Pandya back into the squad.
