Although the exact emergency has remained unknown yet, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) indicates that there is a high probability that he will rejoin with the first Test, set to start at Centurion on December 26. Kohli was absent from the three-day intra-squad match. Virat Kohli is expected to return on Friday (December 22).

BCCI sources have clarified that Virat Kohli was on a pre-planned trip to London and has now returned to South Africa. But previously no clarification about Virat Kohli’s return to India, only known that due to family emergency, he returned to India. Ruturaj Gaikwad has also been absent from the upcoming two-Test series due to a finger injury. In his absence, India included Rajat Patidar in the final ODI in Paarl. He sustained the injury on the ring finger of his right hand during the second ODI while taking a catch in Gqeberha.

BCCI Medical Team confirmed that there is no chance of his recovery before the two Test series. So, India A Player Abhimanyu Easwaran replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the test series which will be start on Dec 26.

India’s prominent fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, has been ruled out of the Test series due to an ankle injury.

Due to personal reason, Ishan Kishan also requested the BCCI to be free from the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Consequently, the wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan has been excluded from the Test squad, and in response, the Men’s Selection Committee has designated Mr. KS Bharat as his replacement.
