Virat Kohli who recently reached on the South Africa tour for the Test series, has come back to India from South Africa due to family emergency. Although the exact emergency has remained unknown yet, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) indicates that there is a high probability that he will rejoin with the first Test, set to start at Centurion on December 26. Kohli was absent from the three-day intra-squad match. Virat Kohli is expected to return on Friday (December 22).

BCCI sources have clarified that Virat Kohli was on a pre-planned trip to London and has now returned to South Africa. But previously no clarification about Virat Kohli’s return to India, only known that due to family emergency, he returned to India. This was a pre-planned trip of Virat Kohli, trip was communicated and planned well in advance, and BCCI was also aware of his plan and schedule to London.

It is a significant relief for Team India, star batsman Virat Kohli has reunited with the Indian squad ahead of the first Test match against South Africa in Centurion. Earlier reports suggested Kohli had to depart from South Africa due to an emergency, but BCCI sources have clarified that Kohli was on a pre-planned trip to London and has now returned to South Africa and Virat Kohli rejoined with Team India for South Africa test series.

According to an official statement, before departing for London, Virat Kohli took part in training sessions and is fully prepared to play in his first Test match against South Africa. He spent the subsequent days in London and has now Virat Kohli rejoined with Team India Test squad. It is highly anticipated that he will resume training in Centurion tomorrow.” It is expected that Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be opening the test series. Ruturaj Gaikwad has also been absent from the upcoming two-Test series due to a finger injury. In his absence, India included Rajat Patidar in the final ODI in Paarl. He sustained the injury on the ring finger of his right hand during the second ODI while taking a catch in Gqeberha.

BCCI Medical Team confirmed that there is no chance of his recovery before the two Test series. So, India A Player Abhimanyu Easwaran replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the test series which will be start on Dec 26.

India’s prominent fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, has been ruled out of the Test series due to an ankle injury.

Due to personal reason, Ishan Kishan also requested the BCCI to be free from the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Consequently, the wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan has been excluded from the Test squad, and in response, the Men’s Selection Committee has designated Mr. KS Bharat as his replacement.
