South Africa recorded their lowest-ever total of 55 runs in history. In his final Test, Elgar won the toss and opted to bat first, exposing the South African batters to the destructive spell of Siraj in favorable conditions. Leading India with a remarkable spell of 6/15 in 9 overs, Siraj completely dismantled the hosts.

Wickets fell at regular intervals during Siraj’s magical spell, and none of the South African batters managed to stay at the crease for an extended period. Only two batsmen reached double-digit scores, with Verreynne making 15 runs and Bedingham contributing 12 runs.

South Africa experienced an unbelievable collapse, losing their last six wickets without adding a run, score a total of 55/10 within 23.2 overs.

Mohammed Siraj achieved a career-best total, taking six wickets while conceding only 15 runs. Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar each took two wickets.

Despite an early setback with Jaiswal’s departure, Rohit and Gill capitalized on the score, even though Rabada consistently troubled Rohit. South African bowlers struggled with their lengths. Rohit and Gill provided India with a quick start, allowing them to take the lead in less than 10 overs and seemingly dominate the game. However, South Africa made a comeback, led by Nandre Burger, who dismissed Gill.

In the last 11 balls, there was a collapse from 153/4 to 153/10, reducing India’s lead to less than 100 runs. Virat Kohli, scoring 46 runs, emerged as the highest scorer in this first innings. Ngidi’s exceptional performance dismissed three Indians in an over, and India lost three more wickets in the next five balls. India concluded their innings with a total of 153/10, leading by 98 runs. Less than 60 overs bowled, witnessing 20 wickets fall.

Aiden Markram played a crucial role in giving South Africa a manageable lead, even as Jasprit Bumrah consistently took wickets, concluding with a six-wicket haul. India chasing 79 runs for victory, Jaiswal showcased an aggressive batting display, attacking almost every delivery and smashing six boundaries to give his team a flying start. Despite losing three wickets, India secured victory in the fourth innings.

For South Africa, Markram delivered one of his best Test performances, achieving a century on the challenging surface to extend his team’s lead beyond 50. Siraj dismissed a crucial batsman, and Bumrah wrapped up the proceedings, finishing with figures of 6/61.
