Although the start was shaky, reminiscent of the struggles in the top order, the lower order compensated admirably. Facing adversity at 64/5, Kavem Hodge and Joshua Da Silva joined forces and resisted the Australian bowling attack. Demonstrating composure and determination, both Hodge and Joshua constructed a formidable 149-run partnership.

Kavem Hodge contributed a crucial 71 runs and Joshua Da Silva 79 runs. Starc removed Hodge and Joshua lbw by Lyon.

The West Indies received additional valuable contributions, first from Alzarri Joseph who quickly scored 32 runs, followed by Kevin Sinclair, who notched up a fifty on his debut. West Indies scored a total of 311/10 in the first innings.

Starc secured four wickets while Hazlewood and Lyon each took two wickets. Cummins managed to take only one wicket.

Australia started the run chase of 311 runs, with opener Khawaja and Smith. Smith was dismissed earlier by Roach. But Khawaja showcased his expertise batting style and played the pivotal role of anchoring one end, acting as the adhesive to the Australian batting. Following him, Alex Carey in the middle-order exhibited brilliance, initiating Australia’s resurgence with a superb counter-attacking innings.

Khawaja contributed 75 runs before being dismissed by Kevin Sinclair. In the lower order, Cummins contributed with a valuable 64 runs, facing challenges posed by West Indies deliveries. Kirk McKenzie and Alick Athanaze capitalize the innings steadily. Kirk added 41 runs while Alick had 35 runs. The Australians maintained exceptional precision with their bowling, consistently hitting the wickets. Unfortunately, the West Indies struggled to make progress on the scoreboard.

Shamar Joseph had to retire hurt and left the field limping after being struck on the boot. The Australians have regained control of the game. This marks a highly disappointing conclusion to their innings; West Indies scored a total of 193/10.
