Australia U19 vs Pakistan U19 Highlights
Two undefeated teams Australia and Pakistan will play the second semifinal of the Under 19 World Cup in Benoni, and the winner will advance to meet India in the final on Sunday 11th February.
Australia has dominated all their opponents so far, with their bowlers shining brightly in every match. Unfortunately, rain disrupted their final Super Six fixture against the West Indies. On the other hand, Pakistan also boasts a formidable bowling attack. However, their batsmen narrowly secured a win while chasing Ireland’s 181, their bowlers successfully defended a below-par score of 155 against Bangladesh in a crucial virtual semifinal.
Pakistan U19 Innings
Pakistan openers Shamyl Hussain and Shahzaib Khan made a solid start to the innings. Australian pace bowler Tom Straker provided the breakthrough by dismissing Shamyl Hussain for 17 runs, breaking the opening partnership. This was followed by Callum Vidler removing Shahzaib Khan for just 4 runs.
In the 15th over, Tom Straker struck again, dismissing captain Saad Baig and then Ahmad Hassan. Straker led the Australian team as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Eight Pakistani batters were dismissed for single-digit scores, with Azan Awais and Arafat Minhas being the only ones to make significant contributions, each scoring 52 runs.
Tom Straker continued his impressive spell by cleaning up the lower order, finishing with sensational figures of 6/24. The Australian bowlers delivered a superb performance after opting to bowl first, dismissing Pakistan for 179.
Mahli Beardman, Callum Vidler, Raf MacMilllan, and Tom Campbell also chipped in with one wicket each.

After a shaky start for Australia, opener Harry Dixon and Sam Konstas steadily continued the innings. Within the first powerplay, Australia collected 33 runs without losing any wickets. Ali Raza broke this partnership by dismissing Sam Konstas for 14 runs. While wickets fell at one end, Harry Dixon continued to accumulate runs.
Then, Naveed Ahmed Khan removed captain Hugh Weibgen, and unfortunately, Harjas Singh was run out. Ubaid Shah sent Ryan Hicks back to the pavilion for a golden duck.
Oliver Peake and Tom Campbell formed a crucial partnership that helped Australia secure the victory. Oliver Peake displayed great composure with his 49 runs, but he also fell victim to Ali Raza, who once again impressed with the ball, claiming figures of 4/34. Despite having only 179 runs to defend, Pakistan nearly pulled off a stunning victory.
Australia emerged victorious in the end, but Pakistan made a fierce contest out of it, with just one wicket separating the teams. In the final over, Raf MacMillan and Callum Vidler’s crucial last-wicket partnership of 17 runs sealed the victory for Australia.
Arafat Minhas not only performed well with the bat but also took two crucial wickets for Pakistan. Ubaid Shah and Naveed Ahmed Khan each claimed one wicket.
