WPL 2024 winner RCB: Smriti Mandhana says she couldn’t hear anything during the video call with India as well as RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli but ‘Virat Kohli looked happy’ after RCB’s victory in the WPL 2024 season 2. Mandhana’s RCB team lifted their maiden WPL title by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on 17th March 2024.

When Richa Ghosh smashed a match-winning run for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2024 final at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, Mandhana jumped from her seat. Renuka Thakur and other players run onto the field from the RCB camp. Richa Ghosh and Ellyse Perry were hugged by their teammates.

After the game, it was seen that Virat Kohli joined post-match celebrations via a video call and started conversation with RCB women skipper Smriti Mandhana and also with the entire team. Kohli’s gesture in this picture earned praise from RCB fans online

However, Mandhana later disclosed that due to the loud crowd roar, she couldn’t listen to Kohli’s words and simply reciprocated with a thumbs-up gesture, expressing her intention to meet him later.

Mandhana said, “I didn’t hear anything he was saying because it was too loud, he was like just thumbs up and I just did thumbs up, I will be meeting him.”

“He looked happy; there was a bright smile. I remember him coming last year and a little pep talk which really boosted me personally as well as the whole team. ‘’

‘’He has been a part of this franchise and I think he has been there for the past 15 years so I could see that happiness on his face but because of the noise I couldn’t hear him, maybe I will chat to him when we go to Bengaluru,’’ Smriti Mandhana said in the post-match press conference.”

Mandhana praising Shreyanka said, “Shreyanka has been brilliant the first three or four matches didn’t go her way, I remember having a chat with her and she was really low about a few things and I remember telling her on March 17th that we were going to do something special and little did I know it is going to happen and she will get the purple cap but really really happy for her. She has been a really hardworking person because she has really worked hard and I feel she is the most complete player to come in the last two years in the circuit of international cricket as well.”

Virat Kohli said, “Smriti, this year RCB will become only team to win both WPL and IPL in the same year”.

RCB will play the IPL 2024 season opening match against the Super Kings on March 22 at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
