Winning the toss, they wisely chose to field, putting the Thunder in to bat. The Thunder’s top order faltered, making several mistakes. Despite efforts by Ross and Sams to stage a recovery, it proved elusive. Davies, Sams, and Green managed to extend the total beyond 150.

The Hobart Hurricanes secured a convincing victory, a much-needed one to distance themselves from the bottom of the standings. This win will also give a boost to their Net Run Rate (NRR).

Hobart Hurricanes made a strong start, their openers Matthew Wade and Caleb Jewell played significantly without losing wickets in the power play. At the end of power play Hobart Hurricanes scored 35/0.

Matthew Wade scored 15 runs from 22 balls, dismissed by T Sangha, and then Caleb Jewell in partnership with Macalister Wright continued the innings. Caleb Jewell contributed 31 runs, removed by Nathan McAndrew.

Ben McDermott and Macalister Wright forged a formidable partnership, unaffected by Sydney Thunder’s bowling performance. Ben McDermott anchored the innings and remained unbeaten with 53 runs. They could have sealed the victory a few balls earlier to further improve their NRR.

In terms of bowling, Daniel Sams, Tanveer Sangha, and Nathan McAndrew each took one wicket for the Thunder.
