The 26-year-old Rishabh Pant was involved in a horrific car accident early Friday morning on December 30th when his Mercedes collided with a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

Despite the severity of the incident, Pant managed to escape. Pant’s car caught fire and was completely destroyed.

The accident occurred while Pant was returning home from Delhi, near the Narsan border of Roorkee close to Hammadpur Jhal. According to eyewitnesses, Pant’s car collided with the railing and caught fire, which was brought under control with great difficulty. Pant has made a successful return and appears to be back to peak fitness after completing a full season with the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Rishabh Pant told after Delhi Capitals’s last game of the season,

“I think personally it was fantastic to come back on the field. The kind of support I got from the whole of India I would say was heartening to see.”

“Wherever I went to play, I got support from each and every person. That was really good to see.”

“Everyone knew that I am playing after one-and-a-half years so it was a long time to wait outside the ground.”

“Loved every bit of it, just coming onto the ground, I just don’t want to stay away from the ground, want to stay on the field all the time.”

Pant is India’s first-choice wicket-keeper for the T20 World Cup, ahead of Sanju Samson.

BCCI announced India T20 World Cup Squad on 30th April at 4 pm. On Tuesday, the Senior Selection Committee announced India’s 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

The 9th edition of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to take place in the USA and the West Indies.

The tournament is set to start on June 1, the USA will be facing off against Canada. Meanwhile, the West Indies will play against Papua New Guinea in Guyana on the second day of group play.

India is scheduled to kick off their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5, 2024.
