ICC Player of the Month for January 2024: West Indies’s right-arm fast bowler Shamar Joseph and Ireland’s teenager Amy Hunter from the Women’s cricket team have been selected as the ICC Player of the Month for January 2024. Shamar Joseph made his international debut for the West Indies against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in January 2024. Amy hunter made her debut against Zimbabwe on 5 October 2021.

The West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph have commenced their international careers impressively. He made his test debut at the Adelaide Oval on 17 January 2024 in the first test of the two-match series against Australia. In this match with his very first delivery dismissing Australian opener Steve Smith for 12 runs.
Joseph took his first five-wicket haul for 94 runs in his debut Test match in Adelaide. With his batting skills scores of 36 and 15 while batting at No.11 for his team. In his first test match, he claimed total five wickets and scored 36 runs.
However, his standout performance came during West Indies’ unexpected victory over Australia came since 27 years in the second Test in Brisbane, where he picked up eight wickets with remarkable figures of 7/68 in 11.5 overs, contributing significantly to his team’s first Test triumph in Australia since 1997.
Joseph was also got the Player of the Series award for his exceptional bowling performances, claiming a total of 13 wickets at an average of 17.30 and accumulated 57 runs at an average of 28.50 throughout the series.
ICC Player of the Month for January 2024 (Women’s)
Amy Hunter (Ireland)
Amy Hunter a talented teenager from Ireland who is currently in great form by surpassing Australia’s Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney has got the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for January 2024. She became the youngest player at 18 years and 107 days in both men’s and women’s cricket to got this reward.
In her debut match, she scored 121 not out against Zimbabwe in the last ODI match between Ireland and Zimbabwe in Harare, becoming the youngest cricketer to score a century in ODI cricket. She scored centuries in both ODI and T20I formats.
Hunter’s record-breaking century in the series opener opened the way for Ireland’s commanding 57-run victory, followed by impressive scores of 77* and 42 in the remaining matches, contributing to her team’s series win.
In total, Amy Hunter accumulated an impressive tally of 220 runs in the T20I series, rightfully earning her the Player of the Series award.
