Gambhir hugged Virat during RCB vs KKR. In the IPL 2024 match between RCB and KKR, fans were taken aback by an unexpected hug shared between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. Sunil Gavaskar playfully dubbed it an ‘Oscar’ moment.

Gautam Gambhir came near to Virat Kohli and hugged with smile from back and spoke with each other at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium was caught on camera. Virat and Gambhir are the two rivalries in IPL so fans have not seen this type of moment for many years now. Users on social media, while posting the photo or video of the incident, asserted that Gambhir had offered an apology to Kohli.

This marked the first occasion Kohli and Gambhir appeared together since their heated altercation in Lucknow last year. Kohli was involved in an on-field dispute with LSG’s Naveen-ul-Haq, prompting umpire intervention.

Following the match, the two exchanged a tense handshake. However, moments later, Kohli and Gambhir were seen approaching each other aggressively, leading to a volatile situation before players from both teams specially KL Rahul intervened to separate them.

In the first innings, Virat Kohli showcased his prowess by scoring 83 runs off 59 deliveries for RCB, supported by Cameron Green (33 off 21 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (28 off 19 balls), setting a target of 183 runs for KKR.

In response, Kolkata Knight Riders comfortably chased down the target with seven wickets and 19 balls to spare. Openers Sunil Narine (47) and Phil Salt (30) laid a strong foundation by amassing 85 runs in the powerplay for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Following their departure, the duo of players – Venkatesh Iyer (50) and Shreyas Iyer (39*) – steered the Knights to victory with a 7-wicket win.

With this triumph, KKR became the first team in IPL 2024 to secure an away win and also broke their streak of losses against RCB in Bengaluru. Previously, KKR had suffered defeat in 9 matches against RCB.

Sunil Narine’s explosive performance in the powerplay, where he amassed 47 runs, marking his 500th T20 appearance.

Venkatesh Iyer, batting at number three, further propelled KKR’s momentum with a rapid 50 off just 30 deliveries. Despite his dismissal, captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings till the end, guiding his team to victory with an unbeaten 39 runs.

Yash Dayal, Mayank Dagar, and Vijaykumar Vyshak each claimed one wicket for RCB. Kolkata Knight Riders achieved the milestone of winning the first away game of the season by defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets, securing their second consecutive victory.
