England vs Afghanistan Highlights, ICC World Cup 2023: Afghanistan handed a shock 69-run loss to defending champions England at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Chasing 285 runs, England were bundled out for 215. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan scalped three wickets each while Mohammad Nabi picked two. Not many would’ve imagined Afghanistan beating England, particularly at Delhi where the batters had been having good form. Afghanistan emerged victorious against defending champions England.

Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran started well, The Afghan batters accumulated runs and exerted pressure on the England team, amassing a total of 79 runs without losing a wicket. 100 comes up for Afghanistan in the 13th over. Alikhil off to a fast start, who replaced Najibullah Zadran in the playing XI, made the most of the opportunity, scoring 58 off 66 balls. Topley dismissed Ikram Alikhil. Then Mujeeb Ur Rehman also played a crucial knock of 28 off 16 balls.

The spinners have pulled things back brilliantly for England. Afghanistan was all out for 284 runs. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the top scorer for Afghanistan, contributing an impressive 80 off 57 balls before being run out. His opening partner, Ibrahim Zadran, added 28 runs in a first-wicket partnership of 114 runs in 16 overs.

Adil Rashid was the most successful bowler, picking up three wickets for 42 runs. Mark Wood took two wickets. R Topley, Livingstone, and Root each take a single wicket.

England skipper Jos Buttler was bowled out by Naveen-ul-Haq at just 9 runs. Then Rashid Khan departed dangerous Liam Livingstone. Mohammad Nabi grabs his second wicket as Sam Curran falls for 10. England was bowled out for 215 in the 40.3rd over. Rashid Khan took the final wicket in the form of Mark Wood as Afghanistan celebrated a comprehensive 69-run victory.

With the exception of Harry Brook (66) and Dawid Malan (32), no other England batsman managed to stand firm against the Afghan bowlers. Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman from Afghanistan each took three wickets, while Mohammad Nabi claimed two, and Naveen-ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi took one each.
