India vs England 4th Test

Bumrah becomes No1 bowler on ICC Test rankings: Jasprit Bumrah’s sensational performance with 9/91 figures in his team’s series-equalling 106-run triumph over England in the second Test in Visakhapatnam has propelled him to the top of the ICC Test rankings for the first time.

Bumrah displaced teammate Ravichandran Ashwin from the top spot, making history as the first Indian fast bowler to achieve this feat.

Bumrah as the only the fourth player from India joins an elite group, who have led the bowling charts and also became the first fast bowler. Previously, only Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Bishan Singh Bedi from India had achieved this.

ICC on February 7th, confirmed that Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has secured the top position in the latest ICC Men’s Test Bowler rankings. This achievement marks the first time Bumrah has claimed the No. 1 spot in Test cricket.

Notably, Bumrah has now become the first bowler in cricket history to attain the number one ranking in all three formats. Earlier, in 2022 year, Bumrah was ranked as the top bowler in ODIs by the ICC, but now he currently holds the 6th position in this format. Additionally, he previously held the top spot in T20 cricket rankings, but presently stands at 89th in the T20 ranking.

Bumrah delivered an incredible bowling performance in the 1st innings, securing a six-wicket haul. He continued his extraordinary impact in the second innings, securing 3/46 to end England’s resistance.

Bumrah’s ascent to the top of the Test bowling rankings is attributed to his remarkable match figures of 9/91 in his team’s series-leveling 106-run triumph over England in the second Test in Visakhapatnam.

His exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Match award, edging out opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a double century in India’s first innings.

Before the start of the second Test, the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was ranked 4th but now he jumped three places in the latest Test rankings for bowlers, seizing the top spot from teammate Ravichandran Ashwin.

In the same match, Ravichandran Ashwin, who held the No.1 position since March last year, secured three wickets for India, slipped two places below to third in the updated Test bowlers rankings. South Africa’s pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada maintains his second position behind Bumrah.
